Though Pininfarina did not have its own wind tunnel for several more years, the BMC 1800 Berlina-Aerodinamica had a profound effect on European automotive design, and predates the remarkably Matchbox #56c ´BMC 1800 Pininfarina´, first version, released by Lesney in 1969. The model was relaunched in a different box with a different (yellow) colour and bigger superfast-wheels. Real car: BMC 1800 Aerodinamica, designed by Leonardo Fiovaranti for Pininfarina, 1967. Pininfarina also created an 1100 version, very similar in its shape, but smaller.

Based on the Leyland 1800 it showed a design that inspired Citroen GS, and CX, as well as Lancia Beta, Alfa-Romeo Alfasud, and of course the Rover 3500 (SD1).
